Thanks for all the suggestions.  I don't know what I did to fix it,
but...it's working with Hyperterm now.  I disconnected the cable,
tried it on another port, put it back, and it's working now.

Wish I could use HRD rotator, but HRD does not support the M-Squared
rotator controller :-(
