I have an old 58 ft. sky needle, otherwise known as TM-358 by Tashjian
Towers. I have a metal supply place close by, on the old Mare Island
Naval Shipyard. I am considering dropping a steel tube into the cement
as I pour the foundation. The suggested tubes are stainless steel,
either 3 x 3 inch (3/16 wall) or 4 x 4 (1/8 wall). A 20 foot tube,
imbedded 6 foot into the cement gives me 14 foot above ground, matching
the guy tie fitting on the tower. The tower weights about 1400 pounds,
with the greatest weight in the first 6 foot and retracts to 24 foot.
Gentlemen, your opinions and advice.
Thank you, Craig Brammer AE6AF
