The ARRL Antenna Book has a section on "Resonance in Guy Wires" which
includes a chart of lengths to avoid for the eight HF amateur bands.
From that chart, 26ft would be a **good choice** to avoid problems on
every band except 17m.
I've no idea where N2IC got the idea that 26ft would cause "major
pattern distortion" on 20m, 15m and 10m!
