RE: Question about Andrew Hardline and Connectors
<Yes it is a little confusing when you wade into it for first time. BTW -
Your coax LDF5-50a is referred to as 7/8" not 3/4"
First question, what is the difference between the LDF5-50 and LDF5-50A?
< Never seen non-A version myself, but if dimensions are same, connectors
below will fit.
Second question, one roll has L45U connectors, the other nothing. I'm not
much into VHF hardline but It seems that the male L45U connector is not a
'N' type connector. What is it?
<per this page, they are UHF females.

< I personally would cut the connectors off and put on positive stop N
connectors, part numbers on this page are L5TNM-PS and L5TNF-PS. Easy and
foolproof if you do cable prep per their specs.

The automated prep tool is the way to go if you can find one used or borrow.
Never tried the manual one, but for only 4 connectors, worth a shot. There
is also a tool that comes with the connector to facilitate a hacksaw/exacto
manual method too for free.
For lightning safety put grounding kits at top and bottom of tower plus at
entry to house, to service ground rod. LDF5 is a serious piece of copper
coming directly to YOU from the tower. Be safe and buy the grounding kits.
You need to strip the jacket a few inches to attach these. There is a tool
for that also, but not shown here, but if careful with Exacto knife you can
do it ok.
I did above and no issues.
