Are bugs and spiders in elements a problem for you? I am not an entomologist,
but with the exception of wasps, most of the bugs and spiders that I see are
closer to the ground. I think that you are more likely to have them inside
your PVC furnace exhaust which is not covered at all and would cause a serious
malfunction if blocked. Even if they were inside your tubing, I think that a
spider would be less harmful to your antenna than an element full of water.

Spiders have felled towers. I had one that had a web in a leg about 15' from the to in a 40 footer. The web trapped moisture whioch froze. we then had a heavy rain followed by another freeze. It split the tower leg, ruining the section. Had the tower had a larger load, it would have completely folded.

Ive seen it happen much closer to the ground in cheap, Aluminum TV towers and those were a complete loss.

What about spiders and other assorted bugs?
