I have picked up a couple of "old type" battery charges at auctions. One has a
"starter booster" position that give ~ 50 A @ 12 v. The other positions are 5,
10 and 30 A charging. Works great for my winch (No, it's not used to lift my
tower as that is a fixed installation). I wouldn't recommend it for anything
with electronics involve though as the peak voltage goes way high, ~20 V no
load. The advantage is that it weigh little, maybe about the same as a battery
for my lawn mower, compare to a much heavier battery that could run your winch.
