Depends which one you have. The center pin solder type will generally ship with the center pin loose in the bag. That type is usually for the "UF" (stranded center conductor) cable. If it seems to be captured in the connector, it's a non-solder type - you just trim the center connector to the right length, usually 1/4", bevel the edge, and push it in. You'll feel the insertion resistance and a slight give as it mates up. The non-solder type is a better choice for standard LMR400.
