There has been a lot of input to this post - some of it helpful and some
of it not quite so helpful.
But the important FIRST things to take into consideration are: 1) your
local windspeed rating. (Check
http://www.championradio.com/county.windspeed.data.html for TIA-222 ratings
for every county in the US. Not the latest
rev but close enough.) 2) Your proposed windload. Everything else depends
on those 2 parameters.
And you should really be reading the UP THE TOWER book. It'll answer
90% of your questions. Then when you have specific questions, the guys on TT
