If your goal is to avoid relays up in the air, it is easier
if you simply make a 2 element driven array with a phasing
network on the ground. Two elements, each with its own
feedline. There are many references describing how to
make the phasing network.

A driven 2 element array will have much better F/B
than you can get with a 2 element Yagi. The bandwidth
will also be better.

I was wondering how would a wire beam behave with the driven elements on

coax switch to switch between the two driven elements (dipoles)?

The driven elements on opposite sides with separate coaxes to eliminate the
relay requirement to switch back and forth 180 degrees.
