Doug, I agree.
When talking about mismatches, power losses, SWR and such, keep in mind that
I and many other people operate both QRO and QRP. I am quite certain that
most of us have some line loss due to SWR or whatever. In any case, I still
work QRP ( 5 watts ) and most recently VU7AG ! I have worked a few
DXPeditions QRP on 160 meters. Thanks for their receiving antennas. I can
attest that a little power wasted maybe Verboten for the purists, but in
most cases nobody would notice the difference at the other end unless the
losses are so great that maybe the entire antenna/coax system needs to be
scrapped and redesigned. .

Subject: [TowerTalk] 50/75 Z: does it matter - the PRACTICAL answer is....
Well, the prompting question (Subject = RG-149) was posted on Dec 12 by
VE3YF.
He wanted to know about RG-149.
My comment questioned whether or not 50/75 Z line even mattered.
After lots of great discussions, I think it's time for a practical answer,
based on what has
been posted and what is available on the web.
Take a look at VE3YF's home page. His "schematic" shows that he is running
a pair of AL80Bs
(or his classic station utilizes an SB200 amp).
These are tube amps and as such, again from the discussion, should be able
to match any
mismatch caused by using 75 ohm coax.
Since he can secure the coax for (nearly?) free, I say, GO FOR IT. Anyone
disagree?
