Ed:
40 years ago I bought my second beam a Mosley TA 33. Above 20M the across the
pond (E US)
Dx would chase it. Rare DX would usually respond.

I was also leery of the traps. No problem over many many years. What you have
to concern yourself
about is aluminum oxidizing Approx. every 2+ years you have to deoxidize
particularly the connections.
You can Google for compounds cleaning or Mosley sells it had has a
maintainability article on it.
I wish I saw it years ago.

Here are on the east coast Asia is the challenge so I recently put a up anew
TA 33. Outstanding results
even during contests. I use a dipole to listen because the beam significantly
diminishes the off center signals.
That's how we get the gain.

I suspect a key reason of different opinions lies in Mosley performance in non
10-20m bands.
I hear Mosley is not so good in the newer bands. I don't work there so I don't
know.
This QTH is at the bottom of a hill and the Oaks grow 100+ feet to catch the
sun.
Carving out beam rotating space is a chore to start and maintain. So I am very
happy with
the small TA 33 15.5 foot turning radius. The traps allow the smaller turning
radius. For results
vs cost and size ratio the TA-33 in 10, 15 20 is a winner. The other bands I
know not.

40 meters is the band for most frequent Dx. If you are interested I'll send
you specs
for a Windom that gets great 40M results. The even high harmonics are also
good. Some claim
the "new" bands work with this ant and a tuner. I can't say.

Here are a few TA 33 / beam interesting web sites
http://www.kt4qw.com/ta331.htm turns a ta33 into 17M.
Google ta-33 antenna for articles and a great set of images. This branches in
to many antenna types.
