I would not consider the CAL AV a short 2 element 40 meter beam.

Probably the best (IMHO) 2 element 40 is the one by Cal AV.
Unlike everything else on the market, both elements are
driven. It is kind of like a ZL special. Big performance
advantage for a little more complexity. Here is an article
