It's the same thing with railroad cars, the electric systems are "floating" so 
a leakage to chassis can easily be detected.

'grounding' in submarines was interesting... NOTHING was connected to the hull 
as you would expect.  in fact, it was a casualty event if leakage to the hull 
was detected on the power distribution systems.
