What does the 12 foot pole consist of? I recently put up the same tower and
used a rope over the house pulled by my truck. The tower was easy till the
rotor and antenna went on. Mike

Subject: [TowerTalk] New Tower Contemplated
I am planning to erect a Universal Towers 50 foot, 123 lb. (model 9-50)
aluminum tower in April when the ground thaws. My plan is to install the 50
footer on a hinged base to crank it over for servicing.
I am thinking a 12 foot pole installed 4 feet into a concrete base would allow
me to raise / lower the tower using a hand winch and pulley. The pulley mounted
near the top of the 8 ft. above ground pole should give me the purchase point
height needed to hoist the tower from the horizontal position.
Before I get too far ahead of myself, does anyone with any actual experience
have recommendations for installing an adjacent pole with a winch and pulley to
hoist and lower the tower?
How close to the tower can I install the hoisting pole?
Is a pulley mounted near the top of an 8 ft. above ground pole sufficient to do
the job?
Anything I am missing here?
I'm sure this has been done or tried before and would be most gracious to learn
of your experience and recommendations.
Thanks and 73,
Jim - K3WR
