Tnx to a tip, fair rite makes this huge snap on, pn Fair-Rite Part Number
2631181381

This thing has an ID of 1.394 inch..which is just a hair less than the 1.4 inch
of normal type 31 cores.
However, this monster is 2.5 inchs tall... and the eq of 5 x normal
toroids..which are only .5 inch tall.
Dunno what it cost, but it’s a quick fix for a lot of applications. It has
the same Z as 5 x normal toroids.

Dunno if this works or not, but using fair rites data, they provide Z for
1-3-5 turns....which turns out to be
1-9-25 times the Z of just 1 turn. That just proves the N2 theory. Also if
cores are stacked, the Z increases
by the number of cores.

IE: if 5 cores used, Z increases by 5 x. If 5 turns are used, Z increases by
a factor of 25. So total Z is now
5x25=125.... or 125 X the Z of just one turn through one core....at a given
freq.

When they say 1-3-5 turns etc, I dunno if they mean plane insulated wire,
close wound between turns,
and also close wound over the outside of the toroid....or something else.
