One nice thing about solo work, for me it is not rushed. I have no people
waiting that need to leave at a certain time, no schedule, and if I am
tired and wish to take a break I can. If I do not finish today, I'll do it
tomorrow. It is enjoyable unstressful work.

Patrick Greenlee , stated, "It is disappointing to see people line up to
take a turn at claiming to walk across the street without looking in either
direction and not getting run over thinking making it alive somehow proves
that it is a safe and good idea to repeat."
As a very safety minded tower climber, am I the only one offended by this
comment? There is nothing inherently unsafe about planning out a tower job,
having the right tools and equipment, and doing the work on one's own. My
tower work is safer alone than A LOT of what I have observed with a gaggle
of "shack on a belt" types mulling around on the ground while one guy on the
tower is yelling and cursing from 100 ft on what he forgot up there. Solo
vs crowd has absolutely nothing to do with safety.
Those of us that do tower work and build towers solo, are typically doing so
because we live in more remote areas (like Vermont), have projects to do,
know how to do them safely and what our and the projects limitations are,
and just want to get the job done.
I have no detrimental opinion of anyone not physically capable, too afraid,
or just not wanting to do so. The feeling should be mutual, in my opinion.
