Steve,
I think you will be just fine if the tower is in good shape and the correct
bolts have been used. I had to remove 100' of Rohn 25 by myself one time
and I literally dropped all the guys but the tower stayed up. I hack-sawed
two of the three legs at the bottom and it STILL did not fall over. I
finally pulled on one of the guy wires to pull the tower over. As it fell,
the mid set of guys caught on trees when the tower top was 20' from the
ground. The trees sagged just enough to gently bring the tower to the
ground and all sections were perfectly intact even though it was an exciting
trip down.
In my case, I wasn't worried about preserving the tower pristinely and I was
VERY lucky in an open field with nobody around except me, but my point is
that Rohn 25 is pretty tough and if the crane operator is reasonable gentle,
I'm betting you will have no problems doing it the safe way (NOT like I
did). ;-)
