## You could probably use one of the many gear redux boxes available... like
the hub city brand.
They all come with a single worm drive built into them..and also available in
double worm drive.
They can be ordered in almost any gear ratio you want. That is what is used to
raise / lower the
5000 lb HDX-689 tower. ( ok the bottom section sits on the concrete, so
4000 lbs + 600 lbs of ant /mast
etc, being lifted /lowered).
## The 1700 rpm 1 to 1.5 hp motor has a 14 inch diam pulley on its
shaft. Then down to just 2 inch pulley on the gear box input shaft. Rubber
belt between em is easily turned by hand.
Output shaft of the gear box has a 3 inch sprocket on it. Then a 6 inch
sprocket on the big drum.
Double wide chain between the 3 + 6 inch sprocket. Shut the power off...or
remove rubber belt..and it doesnt budge.
## for a rotor, that felllow in eu uses... what appears to be a speed
reduction box, which appears to be direct driven
by the motor...with just a simple coupler..like a U joint type.
## 115 / 230 vac motors work superb. They are reversible, and have
capacitor start and run. Can be had in any hp
value you want, like down to real small values. Then u dont have to worry
about V drops. 115 /230 motors work
superb when used with 120 /240 vac + long lines... like at the top of a tower.
## In the case of the crank up, there is a 14:1 redux between motor and
input of gear box.... then the gear boxes own redux,
then a further 2: 1 redux with the chain on the 3 + 6 inch sprockets.
## draw it out on paper, and its readily doable..esp when a double worm gear
version of a gear box is used. What u end up
with is.. virtually identical to the rotor that telrex sold.
## For a plug and play solution... use a small /med /large version of the K7NV
Prop pitch, with the 3 inch mast clamp option,
and the mating GH control box. there is also an option to locate just the
power supply portion of the GH in its own water proof box,
at the base of the tower ( with main GH control box in shack).... to
eliminate V drops on long runs. The external power supply can also
be located towards the top of the tower....and then 120 /240 fed to top of
tower.
