I'm was planning to use the ferrite toroids to make common-mode chokes for
HF. I found 2.4"x1.4"x .5" toroids on Digikey, Laird #28 for around USD 4.00
in quantities of 10. A better price than Fair-Rite and assuming the
properties of the ferrite materials are close.

It all depends on what application you are
using it in, what frequency, what power level,
etc. I have measured various competitor's
"equivalents" to material 43 and the found
that they are considerably lossier. This
mattered a lot for my application, but may
not matter for yours.
