Hello everyone. I am new to the mailing list, and I am glad I now have a
resource to look over for all the question I have.

I work in IT and have been doing so for more than 20 years now. I have
purchased a new home in the woods which is paradise except for the lack of
"reasonable" internet, that is to say, there is none provided by any wired
services. I suppose many of you know of what I speak :)

There is a small wisp in my area which provides internet. However, I need
to construct a tower which can get above the tree line in order to gain
line of sight. Most of the woods I own are established hardwoods;
therefore, the trees are tall.

I have used a drone to get above the tree line and see the tower I need to
connect to. I also know, via range finder, that the drone was approximately
100 feet up.

So, I need to determine what sort of tower I need to get in order to
support a 2 foot antenna. I prefer the look of a self supporting tower.
There are so many manufacturers of towers that I simply do not know where
to begin.

Additionally, I have been told that up to 100 feet requires no permit and
anything above does. I think I may go 150 feet just for future proofing and
for the potential of using this tower for other antennas in the future. I
can do some of the work myself and also hire out things I can't or don't
want to do.

What I really need help with is determining what type of ss tower I need to
be looking for.

Also, I am wondering if tower pieces/sections can be purchased separately
and then put together to gain height. Obviously, I am referring to
purchasing identical tower parts i.e. Rohn 55G tower sections, etc.

Should I go for a complete tower package or is finding the proper sections
separately and then putting them all together an option as well? I do not
have to rush this project, so I am able to take my time finding what I need.

Thank you all for the help and time it takes to answer these questions!
