To be clear, and to fold in with what Steve has stated, it was I who made the remark about ads and the such, yes i agree with Steve k7lxc a good part of what we often discuss is where to, or how much, or what kind of, a directly related product as it might effect the topic de-jour , my comments directed toward ads, were in the context of paid advertisers most often not directly related to amateur issues. To that end i frequently see blurbs or comments from Tim and i am not affronted or feel put on, Tim pretty well backs up his bs, that cuts a long way with me ...

So for me,  i welcome some additional posting content ability and as a general take away, this is a well run civilized decent bunch of members and not many topics go by i dont come away self improved by being a part of this list.

Email is great as it allows well thought out and reasoned messages on asubject.
I can reply when I want and it's direct.  A forum is subject tocensorship and pettiness which
is all to common in amateur radio today. Mywords can be changed and edited by anyone with database
access.
Excuse my ignorance but I don't see the distinction between the two. The
Mailman lists like this one all have administrators that can moderate the list which
means that some stuff doesn't get posted (censored) based on their particular agenda. The
contesting reflector is moderated while TT is not.

It sounds like there are some minor (?) problems with groups.io but IMO
the benefits far outweigh the problems.

PS - Someone mentioned no ads on groups.io. While there aren't any commercial
"ads" on TT, I don't discourage anyone from posting about some offer that may
be of interest to TT'ers. After all, over half of what's discussed has to do with buying
something.
