The bearing for the tower pulleys is the Fafnir or Torrington K8 or KP8,
but not the KP8A! The KP8A is smaller.
Look on eBay about a month ago, there were 10 available, I bought two.
Think they were abt $25 each.
I have been pressing out the old, bad bearings and pressing in new ones for
years. Don't forget to use a small pointed punch and make new pinches to
keep the bearing more securely in place.

I checked Fafnir cross reference and am not sure the ebay K8 is the
correct bearing. The cross reference makes it a 208K8, a much larger
bearing and the price correlates. Better check with the seller about
the exact dimensions.
On one crank up where I replaced the lift cable bearing, used an
aircraft control cable ball bearing (found on ebay) which has a wide
inner race so the sides of the sheave (and the control wire) can't
contact the support flanges. Or with a couple of correct
id/od/thickness washers on a regular deep groove ball bearing that fits
the existing sheave. Ideally, the bearing outer race should be swaged
into the sheave, but some high strength loktite bearing retainer will
also work.

Is it a needle or a ball bearing?

If you have a local bearing supply house, you can take it there, they
will tell you what you need
Interestingly, we are back to one of the BIG issues from the early days
of ball bearing - failures of bearing that rarely move, out in the
weather, under heavy load
Bronze bearing remained in common use in that situation for a LONG time,
but need an oil reservoir.
My pet thing - again, is this is where the PROPER use of plastic bearing
materials would probably be the best thing.

I have a US tower TX-455 that tilts over.
The bearing in the top of the raising fixture's sheave needs replacing.
The matching sheave on the tower has the same bearing and is still in
good shape.
I can press out the old bearing and press in a new bearing.
Can someone please tell me the brand name and model number of the
bearing that they have used for this replacement?
Bearing bore size is about 12 mm.?? OD is about 42 mm. Width is about
13 mm.
The worn out bearing says: NICE PHILA K8
Sincerely appreciate any help.
