| My old A3 traps, from the original Cushcraft, not MFJ, have coils coated
with some sort of thick material. It also serves as a staking compound
for the sheet metal screws on each end of the coil, none of which have
loosened in 27 years. (I looked at all of them.) The MFJ traps I ordered
as spares are completely uncoated. If I ever have to put them up, I'd
like to at least stake the screws. (Coating the coil, even with a low
loss material, would probably shift the resonance.) Does anyone know of
a material that could be used for this purpose? If nothing else, I
suppose I could stake the screws with epoxy, as losses there shouldn't
be critical.
