Hi John,
According to the Galvanic Corrosion Table, stainless steel and aluminum
alloys
are in the green region of the chart and should be safe.
I think this is the best practice available, even if it's not perfect.

I am a little confused by this practice. There are many types of stainless
steel which are all over the galvanic table. Looking at the following table
I am not seeing the advantage to using a generic stainless steel shim
between the tower and the copper wire:

aluminum flashing shim would be a better choice?

Get some thin stainless sheet....DX Engineering sells it.
Wrap it around the tower leg and then put your grounding
clamp on it. This is what I do even with my galvanized
tower. Since it is aluminum, you might put some of that
(I can't remember the name) conductive paste meant for
aluminum antennas between the SS and the tower let.
good luck, 73, Phil W5BVB
