I have made progress. The gear has been removed. However, now the shaft key is
keeping me from removing the entire gear assembly. There should be a slot for
the key to slide through, but there isn't.
Surely I'm missing something obvious. How was this thing assembled ? How would a
motor ever be replaced ?

want to remove and the thing it is stuck to. Need oxy-acetylene, but that will quickly
ruin the temper on hardened parts, so you only do that when you know the part isn't

motor or bearing.

I need to separate the gear assembly from the motor. The keyed gear that slides
on to the motor shaft is stuck. I have removed the screw on top of the gear,
and I don't see any set screws. Tried some WD-40. Is there any trick before I
use a propane torch on it ?
