Don't know where you are (sorry, didn't look you up in 3 land) but most
towers are constrained by wind load requirements. The Florida Building Code
References EIA RS-222 Version G as the reference standard for towers. This
document has a number of pages with wind contours that structures must
meet. In some cases, the "UCC" is a "Universal Commercial Code" which
governs contracts and such, so you really need to specific.
The bottom line is that there are structural requirements that are
different at different places because of wind and soil conditions. UP THE
TOWER is a good place to start if you're considering a tower. Read your
responses here, ask more questions. I'm sure you'll get answers, most of
them correct, some of them useful!
