Fellas, While my original message stated he was looking for a 100' to 200'
Self-Supporting tower- he would prefer one in the 100' to 140' range. He has
30 acres of land so plenty of room on-hand but he doesn't want guy wires. The
tower will only be used for a small wind load VHF antenna so a massive Cell
tower isn't required. I have a 120' Self-Supporting Pi-Rod Tower with solid
steel legs and it's base is only 5' wide, 2' wide at the top. It was designed
for over 20 sq.ft. of wind load which is far more than he needs. So a small
foot print tower, like a Pi-Rod Solid-Steel Leg Tower, in the 100' to 140'

to straight @ 140'. Generally it will handle whatever that 60' piece of 4' on a
side tower will handle, which isn't nothing. Sabre is a good manufacturer. The
companies that make SS towers seem to have settled on that basic design -
mainly varying the number of straight sections to satisfy loading requirements.

attenuator (10 to 20dB) between the radio and the antenna which is picking up
the sort of bleed-through Mike describes. If the bleed-through doesn't go away
when you add-in the external attenuation, the problem is likely NOT in the
radio. Switching in the radio's internal front-end attenuation isn't always
sufficient. I had a case where the bias on the PIN diodes that switched
high-pass filters into the receiver front-end of one of my radios was being
modulated by the very strong BCI from a nearby 4-tower array that favored me
more during the day. Switching in the radio's front-end attenuation didn't
help. I had to attenuate the signal ahead of that PIN diode switched
filter-bank in order to reduce the bleed through.? When I did that, the
bleed-through stopped, so I knew the QRM was being generated inside the radio.
