I was on that T2X rebuild treadmill for about45 years. Three years ago,
on XE2K's recommendation, I switched to an Alpha Spid RAK with Green
Heron Controller. Green Heron has a package deal. I think KF7P has a
package deal too. Then pick up the cable from Wireman, and the short
adapter plate from KF7P, and you're good to go for about $1.8K.
No more rebuilds, no more stuck brakes, no flaky potentiometers, no
broken gears, no keeping a spare on hand. Digital controller interfaces
beautifully with N1MM Logger and other programs. Rotor has been turning
a KT-34XA and 40-2CD without a glitch for three years. It survived
Hurricane Hilary last summer.

MFJ stopping production in May is definitely going to make it tough for all
of those Hy-Gain rotator owners. My experience with multiple Hy-Gain
rotators in the 80's was that they needed a lot of rebuilding. If your T2X
rotator is broke, it might be a good time to look at other options. Spending
more for a better rotator may save money in the long run plus save on
aggravation.
