Martin,

If I were going to base insulate a 45G tower used as a vertical for 160
meters, I would get a pier pin base. I would drill the hole in the center
out to 1-3/8 inches. Then I would get a Delrin plate about 1" thick or
more that was as large or larger than the pier pin base and drill a 7/8"
hole in the center of that. Center those holes so there is 1/4" clearance
all around between the Delrin hole and the hole in the steel plate. Attach
the Delrin plate to the pier pin base plate with four or more 5/16"
stainless bolts and locknuts, recessing the lock nuts on the bottom of the
Delrin plate. Fill that recess with epoxy once you have tightened the
bolts. Use a galvanized pin 3/4" diameter and about a foot long protruding
up about 2 inches above your LEVEL concrete base. And when putting it up
remember that it will fall right over unless you have temporary guy wires
on it until you get a permanent set installed. You need a good enough
concrete pad that the tower will not sink. Any more is a waste because the
concrete base is not for a self supporting tower or to temporarily hold up
a tower that is buried in concrete. It is literally only there to provide
a level surface and to not allow it to sink. You or an engineer will have
to decide on that based on your soil or you can always go with what Rohn
recommends for a 130 foot tower with a pier pin base.

All this is my opinion on an easy way to do what you want. I am not an
engineer so you should run it by someone who could shoot holes in it. In
my own mind I am positive it would work great but I could be wrong.
