Speaking as a former rover -- first, consider that mobiling up and down
mountains on fire roads beats the crap out of whatever you use. Radio,
vehicle, driver, etc. Don't get me wrong, it's great fun -- but the
economics of repair needs to figure in here. My advice is to get moderate
priced, rugged radios and go have fun with them. My cost metric: if this
radio died a spectacular death during a full-up rove, would it a) make my
cry, b) make a hilarious war story at the next club meeting?
