I've found the recent discussion of the sked controversy interesting, but
mentioned several times is the FM 'issue'.
There is a huge disparity for those who happen to be located near (use your
own definition of near) a major metropolitan area where there is a large
population of VHF/UHF FM users.
This can result in a huge difference in QSO numbers between these
"metropolitan" operations and those that are more "rural".
Should there be a distinction between those who can work these types of
non-contesters and those who cannot?
I'm not against drumming up more contest activity - certainly not! However,
it seems that some stations can "shoot fish in a barrel" on 146.58 all
weekend, while others have to pray for some sort of enhanced propagation to
make more than just a few qsos.
What's the consensus here?
