Jacob - 

       If you are going to use some kind of paint stripper (GOO), Please make 
sure that you can safely wash it off with a hose and it can go down the 
drain.  
       As some strippers have some kind of caustics in them and they are not 
really friendly to the environment.  
       Your best bet if using hosable stripper, is to hang a plastic sheet 
under the work you are doing and try to collect all of the residue in a large 
bucket.
       Otherwise, as was suggested, try to find a galvanizing shop in your 
area, and let them do the job.
