Hi,
If you knew someone who had no VHF equipment, but wanted to get
into VHF contesting (6m, 2m, 423, 1296), what would you suggest
for a radio purchase? Top of the line isn't necessary, but avoiding
poor quality receivers is high on the priority list. Spending
closer to $1000 than $2000 is also a goal.
        Some thoughts are:
           IC 706?
Ten Tec (the new 6 and 2 meter rig) with converters for 432 and
           1296?
        Your thoughts please?
73, Dave Clemons K1VUT
