Howdy all!
Well, Dayton was productive for me, as I went and purchased a 30w 222 Mhz FM
rig to help get another band on the air. This will round out the rover station
with ABCD, and building slowly. One additional item - 2el Yagi for 6m in an
X-Beam configuration, so hoping for a little more signal on 6.
This summer, I'm going WEST! I've mapped out a plan to start way down in DL98
and slowly work my way up through EL08, EL09, DL99, DM90, EM00, EM01, DM91,
DM92, and EM02. The plan is to Run-And-Gun as much as possible but keep the
pace up as I make my way North along the Hwy 83 route. I'll likely find a
cheap spot to grab some sleep Sat night, then loop around through DFW area
(EM12, EM11, EM21, EM20, EL29), down I-45 towards Houston, then try for
Freeport and EL28. From there, back up through EL29 to EL19, then EM10 back in
Austin.
This may be aggresive, but I might as well try it! I just hope the ol' Minivan
keeps pace this time - Transmission, Fuel pump have been recently replaced...so
I'm hoping! It may work, it may crash and burn!
6m - 100w - 2el X-beam
2m - 100w - 4el Cushcraft (rotatable while cruisin'!)
222 - 30wFM only, 6el WA5VJB special 223.500 simplex, horizontally polarized
432 - 20w - 17el UHF yagi (with Road Rash!!)
I'm hoping 6m will hold some activity, and some early-morning 2m openings will
provide some good activity. I'll also keep an ear on 146.58 FM as well while
I'm moving.
73!
