I caught an 'Early Opening on 6M Last Evening' at 4:00PM MST after
looking at the DXSherlock Map.. Only snagged a few in Grids I had
previously worked... but Nice to Hear the Band Open at Any Time ! I
heard this Lil Voice calling "CQ KI6RRN DM12.." I did not need the
Grid.. but thought why not give him a Holler ! I went outside to turn
the 4el Yagi on a 30' piece of pipe..(ya.. have a Rotor, just to Lazy to
install it !) to DM12.. He came back to me..(and you could Hear the
Excitement in his Voice ) I was the 'First Person he had Ever Worked on
6M Outside the US !
I asked him his Age.. he replied 14.. One Four ! Now "Isn't That what
this Hobby is meant for" ? Making someones Shack 'Light Up' with
enthusiasm !
I remember my 1st CW QSO 27yrs ago on 40M...
And he never did send me a card back..! (Call Withheld !)
So.. If you wanna Rove.. Rove.. Op' /Portable.. Go for It ! Isn't the
Hobby about 'Working Other Op's ?
So what.. you get the /R all set up to go..and a Rule Change P's you Off !
I will Work You.. whether I need your Grid or Not..
"Its 'Not All About the Paper' Guys" !
73 and hope to Work You All in the June VHF Contest..
