DM36 and DM46 operation June 10-14:

WA7JTM and the Arizona Six Shooters will be heading North to DM36 (The
Grand Canyon) Wednesday morning to activate this grid June 10, 11, and
12th on 50/144/222/432 MHz. We should be operational from DM36 Wednesday
evening on 6 and 2(apx 2300Z), and all Thursday and Friday from this
same location on all bands. If the band is open on Six we will be on
50.136, calling on 50.125 on occasion. The call for DM36 will be either
N7AMA and/or WW7B.

Friday night we will move the station to DM46ca, where we will set up to
run the June VHF Contest on the same four bands. Hope to stay near
50.146 when the band is open, but will call on 50.125 as conditions
warrant. Call will be WA7JTM.

Stations:
6m 100 watts, 6 ele yagi
2m 100 watts, 19 ele yagi
222 110 watts, 14 ele yagi
432, 100 watts, 19 ele yagi

We have worked into Salt Lake, Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, S. Cal,
Albuquerque, and Las Cruses from this location in the past on ground
wave up thru 432. I hope to hear everyone this week/weekend.

The following is the tentative plans for the Rovermobile in the June
contest. More details will be provided not later than next Wednesday,
including 6 digit grids where available.

I plan on running a route starting in Erie PA EN92xa, and heading south
into WV as far as Weston, halfway down the state, then east to Elkins
and south into the mountains between WV and VA. At the junction of
I-64, turn east into VA between Staunton and Lynchburg where I end the
contest Sunday evening. May stay at Morgantown WV Saturday.

Looking at grids along the route, in order encountered, comes FN01,
FN00, EM99, EN90, FM09, EM98, EM99 dup, EM88 dup, EM97, EM96??, FM07,
and FM06 or FM08.

I AM NOT ACCEPTING SKEDS.

Don't know the route, don't know the travel time, don't know the sites,
and don't need the stress. This is to be a ham vacation, not a hard
core contesting effort.

I will not have Roverlog with me, and have bearings to the 2 grid
corners in VE3 as well as 2 others in the east USA from all grids
indicated, namely FM11bb and FN32jp. It will be interesting to see how
often I can hear VE3 along the route. Other grids may be operated from
that are not indicated above.

Bands will be 144, 223.5, 432, 903 and 1296, with 6 possible as well.
223.5 will be on at all times.

Antennas: K1FO 12 on 144, 16 on 222, 22 on 432, 34 elmt looper on 903,
pair of 45 loopers on 1296 vert stacked.

Rigs: Icom 910H, DEMI 903 tvtr to 817, Icom IC-3 to Mirage C22A mini
brick with preamp.

EN92 US and FN01 are rare in contesting so will spend more time in
each.

Tongue-twister will be VE3CRU/W?/R in grid, especially on cw.

Final plans forthcoming.

Good luck to all contesters, especially to all rovers.

73, Bill VE3CRU /W3/R ...../W8/R ....../W4/R .... in that order.

Hello VHFer's,

The K3LFO/R Rover team will be out running 50 Mhz through 3456 Mhz for
the June Contest. We are planning a medium rove starting on the eastern
shore of Maryland and ending up on Skyline Drive. Our route and
approximate times are listed below. We were going to leave out FM27
because we don't get much activity there and it's another 2 hour drive,
but we decided to give it *one more chance*. So PLEASE look our way
during the first ? hour of the contest in FM27.

We've fixed the rover starter battery and taken care of a few other
service problems. The RF systems have been checked out and all is
working well. We even netted the transverters on frequency. It's not
perfect but within 1 or 2 Khz versus the 18 Khz off frequency we had on
3456.

Our run frequency on 2 meters will be *144.245*. If you call us and
don't hear us try back in a few minutes as we will be returning back to
this frequency often in between searching and pouncing.

I've noticed a number of stations asking about 223.5 FM We will be
happy to QSY up to FM and give it a try if you ask us to go there from
another band. That goes for 6m 2m and 70cm as well! We will be
horizontally polarized so be sure we will be within adequate range.

*/DISCLAIMER:/*/ All times are relative and subject to change due to
band conditions!/

*Saturday June 13*

My wife and I depart for a week's vacation in Ten Mile, TN to do some
camping and fishing. This is in EM75, where I'll be QRV on 6M and 2M,
but just on a casual basis during the week.

We return on Friday, June 12th, and make final preparations for the
contest. No route has been decided on yet, but should be able to send an
e-mail with our plans before the middle of the week. On our "for sure"
visits are stops in EM61 (a lot of locals need this grid on 6 Meters.
Active hams there, but hard to get QSL's), EM62, EM63, and others. We'll
also journey to Mount Cheaha, Alabama's highest peak on Saturday.

During the contest, we'll run an APRS tracker, with the SSID of N1LF.

Still have a lot of work left to do on the rover, including the
installation of 2M stacked loops so that we can make QSO's while in
motion on both 6 and 2. That should be accomplished later this week.
Hope to work a lot of folks in the contest.

Les Rayburn, N1LF

Hi all, I will be on vacation next weekend down in Cape May, NJ (FM28)
and plan to participate on a limited basis in the June VHF contest. I
will bring along my FT-817 and Arrow Antenna and will operate QRP
portable on 144 and 432 SSB from the shoreline.

I'm not sure how far 5W into an Arrow antenna will get me, but I will
try and call anyone that I can hear and will be calling CQ as well.
Listen for me next weekend, probably later in the evening on Saturday
and/or early Sunday morning.

73, Dave N2TEB
