I'd like other VHF Men to formally join me in calling for the ARRL to implement
a "stop-gap" measure in regards to accepting LoTW verifications for VUCC
credit.

Namely, I'd like for the league to authorize card checkers to accept print outs
from the LoTW web site (verified online directly by the card checker as a
"second check") to count as verification for contacts. This would allow someone
seeking VUCC to print out their credits from the LoTW web site, and bring them
along with their forms, fees, and "hard copy" QSL cards to a hamfest and get
all their credits counted.

My understanding is that some card checkers are already doing this, though I
don't see how they're getting around the rules on that one. This would
formalize the exception that is already being granted in some cases, and take
some of the heat off the ARRL programmers while they work on getting the web
site completed.

Card checkers could request to verify the results online, and this could be
accomplished easily at most hamfests with a laptop or mobile phone. The person
seeking the award can type in their own password, so the system isn't
compromised, and an independent second check is available.

I may be missing a huge "down side" to this idea, and if so, please feel free
to point it out. But the benefit to the league is that it could be implemented
with an e-mail to card checkers, or a mailing at worse. The change would be
swift, immediate, and satisfy all parties. Where I come from, we call that a
pretty good compromise.

Who will join me in requesting this?

73,

Les Rayburn, N1LF
