I was a bit shocked and saddened to hear of Gene's passing. I didn't have many 
encounters with Gene but enough to enrich en my life. Just a few contacts on 
the air, and a few emails to report band conditions for his column,but he 
always acknowledged me with vigor and enthusiasm,he had a way of making a 
meager station like mine, and its operator feel "Big" and accepted. Thanks for 
that Gene, you will be missed. and thought of often.
