Exciting developments in the world of Software Defined Radio (SDR) these
days, including a new project whose goal is to produce a single SDR
transceiver capable of operation
from 100 MHz to 6 Ghz! Best of all, the price point that the developer
is shooting for would be in the range of $300 bucks.
The product is intended for us in commercial and military applications,
and just received a $200,000 development grant from the Department of
Defense, but it has obvious amateur
radio applications as well. Something like this could breathe new life
into some of our lesser used bands like 222 and 900 MHz, along with
simplifying portable and rover operation.
