An alternate idea would be to create a "Winter 6M Contest" on the 1st
weekend of January to improve the odds of e-skip. I've noticed that
when 6M opens up, activity on the other VHF bands all suffer from a loss
of activity, so lets provide an alternate 6M event for us 6M junkies to
get our winter operating fix, and leave the All-Band January VHF contest
right where it is.
I'd especially like to avoid a conflict with the CQ-CW-160 contest.
Like many other VHF'ers, I also enjoy the extra challenge of operating
160M and I try to participate in as many 160M events as possible.
My first, main, and tallest tower is the one tower that supports the
VHF/UHF stack and is gamma matched for 160M & 80M operation. These
bands form the core and emphasis of the Amateur Radio career.
BTW... I'm still working on DXCC on 160M and 6M, just another reason I
would like to be able to continue devoting full attention to both 160M
and 6M events.

I am a relative newbie to VHF contesting, so no problem moving it as

as I am concerned.
HOWEVER - take a look at the contest calender.
First weekend - ARRL RTTY Roundup
Second weekend - ARRL NAQP CW
Third weekend - ARRL NAQP SSB
Fourth weekend - CQ 160 CW
Keeping in it January means sharing with a major contest. Making it
the
fourth weekend means sharing with the CQ 160 contest, and I think the
hard
core contesters have already shown where their loyalties lie.
I don't follow professional sports - I prefer RADIO sport :-)
