makes me want to cry! I was down South one Spring (long agao) and it was quite a change for me. I was at Ft Benning GA in early February for parachute jump school, then in Augusta GA after that for more training. By the time I left in early May, we were having every day up in the mid to high 80's. Quite a change from Maine where we get mid to high 80's typically at the hottest part of the summer. The long winters are bad for VHF, but the snow is really very beautiful and fun if you like playing in it. I have X country skis and snowshoes and we love to go out the back door and strap on the skis and take a quick jaunt through the woods. I have some nice trails made up my hill to the shack as well as through the woods along my beverage wires. If I was living in a city, it would be a different story. The snow gets black and icy and you can't really move in it. I would be booking a long vacation to the Caribbean I am sure. The only bad part about winter is that there is no antenna work being done. When it warms up, we have to work fast!!
