Gang,
Thanks for all the suggestions. As it turns out, the answer to
successfully getting the amp to unkey was not obvious. N9DG and others
suggested using the FM mode along with a hard keyline. That worked
sometimes, but I found that with the Pre-Amp on and FM selected, it
worked EVERY time. Changing the drive level from the K3 from 1/2 to 7W
did not affect keying, only power output.
It appears that the RF sense circuit is tangled with the overload
protection, and why running the Pre-Amp solved the problem is still a
mystery to me. Regardless, that's the way it'll be running this weekend!
