I am in Ohio taking my remaining 130 foot rotating tower down and packing it up for shipping to my AZ QTH, Since I had a old Kenwood 432 all mode 25 watts and an old K1FO 33 element beam still new in the box here in Ohio, I decided to set up portable in EN80. I opened the K1FO box and found a hand written note from Steve, K1FO in the box dated May 1986!!... Brought back some good memories of Steve,, I put 17 elements of the 33 element beam together, and set up portable on top of a reservoir in EN80mu.
25 watts stock radio no pre-amp and 40 foot of Lmr 400 on a 10 foot pole..
I did not have a code key so ran to hardware store and grabbed a door bell switch, screwed it to a piece of wood,, wired it up and I was setup by start of contest.. Conditions were good and I had a lot of fun with low power and portable setup!! It was also good to work a lot of my Friends in the Mid West and East that I have NOT worked since I left Ohio. Thanks to all for putting u with my doorbell code sending,, and your patience with my low power!!
