Hi VHFers

Don't forget that Tuesday is the day for 222 activity.  If at all possible, try to be on 222 this evening.  There is a core group of very active folks there just looking for new contacts.  If you have 222 gear, tonight is the time to get on and exercise it! Chat pages can be used to set up schedules especially if you are far away from any activity areas.  Last week was a busy evening here in the northeast with many stations active.  The same can be said for the West Coast. I noticed that N7GP had a nice 370 plus mile contact. That is impressive as tropo enhancement is quite rare in AZ and CA away from the  Pacific Ocean, so it was quite an accomplishment.

I am still in mid winter here in Maine. There was another ice storm this morning, but I think the ice will melt as today is warming up to just above freezing.  My ham shack is not accessible now.   Most folks get on after dinner. 6 or 7 PM is the starting vtime, and ON4KST (144/432 Region 2 )  or HB9Q  for  220 MHz Chat are two good pages to monitor. In the SE, I know that many hams also use the W4DEX page.  Whatever works for you in setting up long haul contacts should be used, and please let us all know if you tried anything long haul or not-so-long haul!!

I am counting the days until I am back on 222 in late March. That is only four or five more Tuesdays!!

73 & CU on 222.
