Icom has already made band specific radios for different parts of the world. The IC-7300 EU model covers the 4 meter band; the U.S. version does not. Opening diodes does not enable 70MHz transmit on the U.S. radio; components at board level are changed. Don't ask how I know, but I have a EU model 7300 for trips.73.
