Might consider the Yaesu FT991A.
I agree with Pete about the QRP and being frustrated starting out,
especially in this day and age of instant gratification.
After about 40 years of being a ham, I tried QRP operation on 60m and a few
of the other HF bands using a FT817. Frustration was an understatement.
Heck it is frustrating when a station can't hear you and you are running
600W and a yagi.
