Proactive?
You know where I learned about the latest 430-440 MHz threat from AST
SpaceMobile?
It was an email that was forwarded to me that came from AMSAT-DL. At the
point I had received the email, there had already been hundreds of comments
filed mostly by hams and amateur radio organizations outside of the US.
Absolutely nothing from the ARRL. When they did file something it was in my
opinion, weakly worded.
Did you see or hear the ARRL sound the battle cry and rally the troops? I
didn't.
My perception of the ARRL's responses to the past several spectrum threats
has been that of a knee jerk reaction. Like they were unaware and caught
off guard. I also learned of those spectrum threats from non ARRL sources.
If they were truly proactive, they would be sending a weekly, monthly,
quarterly, etc. newsletter or email informing the amateur community of
active threats, potential threats, what they are doing to defend the
spectrum and accounting for the uses of the Spectrum Defense Funds.
If the ARRL doesn't get with it, we will lose most of the spectrum to
commercial interests and there will be no need for H.R. 1094 in the U.S.
House of Representatives and S. 459 in the U.S. Senate.
My $1.5 adjusted for inflation and tariffs.
