Things were a tad slow up here in the northern part of New England. the
10 GHz contest was a big effort for many and I suspect many of the
participants were sleeping or in the middle of Epsom Salt bath events.
I don't have the log at hand but from memory, I worked the following
stations. WW1Z FN42, WB2VVV FN41, KA2ENE FN13, KC1V FN31, K1PXE FN31, GB
Ron WZ1V FN31, WA1MBA FN51, KA3FQS FN20, WA2LTM FN20, N1JEZ FN44, W1AIM
FN34, WA4YA FN42, W9KXI FN12, N2SLO FN30, K2AEP FN32, W1XIV FN34, and
WA1T in FN43. WA3EOQ had a weak but quite steady signal from FM09 on
CW. I worked a few on FT8. WA4YA was on FT8 and KA2ENE was worked both
on SSB and later on FT8 as well. I caught Jeff K1TEO on FT8 as well.
The enhanced tropo was not evident up here in Maine, but I could see the
red blob was in evidence along the coast from Long Island southward. I
was QRV a bit early as the Moon was setting here. moonset was at 2300 UT
and I was on at 21:30 and worked VE6TA and K9MRI as the Moon was going
down. I also worked W2HRO in FN20, who has a 4 meter dish but it was via
the terrestrial mode. He only was running a 100 watt amp and I did not
hear him off the moon. We worked easily with his antenna aimed West and
he promises to be ready to go shortly on EME when he gets his preamp and
KW amplifier hooked up. New Jersey will now be represented on 222 EME.
So I ended up with a total of 23 stations worked. I know I forgot to
list a couple of stations. My memory is not the best lately. It must be
all that LIthuanian brandy I had in my youth.
the next 222 MHz activity night coincides with the 222 MHz Sprint. I
hope we get a big turnout.
