Merry Christmas VHFers!

Tonight is 222 Night and what better way to spend the Christmas holidays than to get on 222 MHz and wish peace and joy to your hamster friends who are just as crazy as you are!  I am hoping to be on or about 222.100 starting just before 00:00 to help spread the Christmas cheer with contacts on CW or SSB or FT8, or maybe Q65.   The weather here in Sunny and cold Maine is beautiful and the wind has stopped blowing for a change. I am hoping I can make it up the hill and get the generator started. With all the wind we have gotten, the antenna might be broken in half again, but I am hoping things are still together.  Last week was a banner day for activity and I am hoping that we have plenty of friends show up tonight and spread Christmas cheer.

I have been reading about the trials and tribulations of Pete, K1PXE. It seems that his exciter has been giving him trouble, but he is cautiously optimistic that he can get on and make a few QSOs this evening.  To celebrate the return of K1PXE to the airwaves, the vaunted and all knowing *222 MHz Activity Committee *has set up a bonus plan for anyone who contacts k1PXE on 222MHz this evening.  I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that you do not want what the Committee is offering. You did not want to spend a weekend last week in a lean to tent at 10,740 ft and hang out in a mud hole just South of the Collegiate Peaks in Colorado. OK, maybe that could have been a better selection, but the Committee has gone to great lengths to make up for last weeks awesome prize. If you work K1PXE you all will get a gift certificate from one of the best seafood suppliers on the East Coast. Every lucky ham who manages  contact with Pete will win a $75 Gift Certificate from Sol's  Long Island Sound Used Fish market and Plumbing Supply.  If you show up to their fine establishment at 317 Oil spill Way in Milford, CT and go behind the building about 200 ft past the high tide marker, you will find them.

A note of caution, Please show up on Wednesday around 3:30 PM only. That is low tide for that area and the only time when the store is accessible. Wear your best rubber boots.

As for 222 Night, please show up early evening as most activity is between 00:00 UT and 02:00 UT. Look and listen around the calling frequency, 222.100 plus or minus, and also 222.174 if you are looking for ft8 contacts. The ON4KST Chat page is a handy way to let others know that you are QRV. https://www.on4kst.org/chat/login.php?band=8 ;    If you have not registered before, it is a simple task to sign up.  The band promises to be in bad shape for the Northern states, but what else is new?  CU on 222.
