We are coming right up to some great condx on the EME paths and 222 MHz
is alive and well and ready for contacts starting on Sunday April 19th
and then into next week. I have a four yagi array of K1FO style long
yagis that perform well. It is worth trying if you have a single yagi
and a few hundred watts. What is needed is a quiet horizon and the
Moon. Anyway, I am ready and willing to try with anyone who might be
interested. I have made one contact with a single yagi and 95 watts
(WA3EOQ) He has a longish yagi for 222 and hears very well. Working EME
with 100 watts might be pushing it, but an extra 3 dB and 200 watts
makes all the difference.
Friday, April 17, is New Moon with the Sun and Moon close together.
Saturday might be bad too, but by Sunday April 19, it will be clear
sailing and I would be happy to sked anyone on Sunday or the days
afterwards. If you do not have good tracking software, I can tell you
when a good time might be. Just ask! Send me an e mail.
April 21/22 is 222 MHz Activity Night and I will be QRV for that. That
is also the 222 MHz Sprint night, so there will be lots of activity that
evening.
So feel free to try something new and see what happens when EME condx
are pretty good. Let me know.
